Updated September 16, 2026. Fathers Are Parents Project is an emerging initiative organized by Nick Lukens. Contact contact@fathersareparents.org with questions or requests about your information.
When you sign the pledge
We store your name, email address, selected relationship to the movement, country, any optional location information, and a record of the pledge version you accepted. We send a confirmation email and record when you confirm. Signing does not subscribe you to a newsletter.
Contact details and precise locations remain private. Public movement totals count each active supporter with a verified pledge and confirmed email once. U.S. state totals are shown only for groups of at least 10 supporters; names, county totals, and contact details are not shown. State totals may not add up to the overall total. Optional referral or campaign information may be stored with the pledge when supplied.
When you share an experience
We store the contact details, experience, optional case context, and permission choices you submit so we can review your account and, where you agree, discuss possible publication. Stories are not published automatically. Permission to contact you is not permission to publish every detail.
The submission form is intended for adults. Do not include a child’s name, date of birth, school, address, photograph, private medical or therapy information, or confidential records. Share only what you are comfortable providing. See our publishing standards.
When you use the AI Support Guide
The Support Guide is an automated AI assistant intended for adults aged 18 and over, not a person, licensed therapist, attorney, or monitored emergency service. Before using AI replies, you acknowledge the adult-use and processing notice. This is self-declaration, not identity or age verification. Urgent-help contacts remain accessible without this step.
When you send a message, its text, limited recent conversation history, and relevant approved FAPP passages are sent through Vercel hosting and AI Gateway to the GPT-5 mini model hosted by Microsoft Azure. Chat requests restrict routing to Azure and require Gateway zero-data-retention and no-prompt-training treatment. If that required routing is unavailable, the chat does not silently switch to a less restrictive route. Requests also disable stored completions. These are request-level data controls, not a claim that every infrastructure log, security record, or backup has zero retention.
The chat keeps its displayed conversation in the current browser page’s memory. It does not create a FAPP transcript database record, story submission, supporter account, or publication permission. Clear chat removes the conversation from that interface and stops waiting for an in-progress reply; it cannot recall information already sent to a provider or guarantee that upstream processing has stopped.
To limit abuse and unexpected costs, the chat stores a daily-changing keyed hash of a network address or IPv6 network prefix, random request references, timestamps, usage-accounting amounts, and coarse service outcomes. It does not store message text or raw addresses in these chat-control tables. Network records older than 48 hours and aggregate usage/alert records older than 90 days are removed during later activity; physical deletion can take longer when traffic stops. Provider logs and backups have separate retention policies. People sharing a network may share message limits.
Control alerts sent to the project contain environment and service codes, not visitor messages. The Report a problem link can include a random request reference but does not automatically attach your conversation. Emailing a report shares whatever you choose to put in the email with the project’s email services. Avoid confidential details. This inbox is not an emergency service and has no promised response time.
The chat endpoint does not intentionally log message text. See Vercel AI Gateway’s data controls and Microsoft’s Azure model data controls. Do not treat this chat as confidential therapy or legally privileged communication.
Please do not include children’s names, identifying information, confidential court records, medical or therapy records, payment details, or credentials. The guide cannot contact emergency services or provide human follow-up. Its approved coverage and exclusions are explained in What the guide knows. Report concerning replies or corrections through the contact address without adding sensitive records.
When you request a quote or preorder merchandise
When merchandise ordering is available, we process the name, email address, delivery address, selected product and option, quantity, and shipping service you provide to calculate a quote and manage your order. We store the accepted total, tax and shipping amounts, production and shipping estimates, your payment authorization, and order, payment, refund, and fulfillment status. Delivery details are shared with Printful for shipping estimates and fulfillment, and with Stripe as needed for tax calculations and payment processing.
Card entry takes place on Stripe’s hosted checkout. Stripe stores the card details. FAPP stores Stripe customer, payment-method, checkout, and transaction identifiers so it can use your authorized saved payment method when the batch enters production and reconcile payment results. Our checkout forms do not ask for your full card number or security code.
Neon stores order records. Resend processes order email addresses and message content to deliver transactional confirmations, schedule changes, payment notices, refund updates, and shipment tracking. Order emails do not subscribe you to marketing. Printful receives the order and recipient information needed to make and deliver merchandise.
A necessary, secure order-access cookie lets this browser manage a guest preorder without an account. It lasts up to 180 days, about six months, unless you remove it earlier or replace it by accessing a different order. A private recovery code can restore access in another browser. Anyone with that code can view the order, cancel it while cancellation is available, and open authentication for its existing payment. Keep the code private; do not email or post it.
Order records are not deleted when the browser cookie expires. Commerce records currently have no automatic deletion schedule. You may contact us about access, corrections, or deletion; payment, tax, fulfillment, dispute, and provider record requirements may affect what can be removed. Read the preorder terms for how ordering and production-start payments work.
Website activity counts
When activity measurement is enabled, the website counts page views, starts of the pledge form, resource-link clicks, successful form responses, email confirmations, and blocked or unsuccessful form responses. These counters contain an event category, date, environment, and total. They do not contain names, email addresses, story text, page addresses, or individual visitor identifiers. This measurement does not set a tracking cookie or build an individual activity history. The counters are approximate and are not counts of unique people. Aggregate counters currently have no automatic deletion schedule.
Services that help run the website
Vercel hosts the website and provides BotID protection. Neon stores form submissions, chat-control counters, and merchandise order records. Cloudflare Turnstile checks submissions for automated abuse. Resend sends pledge confirmations, merchandise order updates, and technical service alerts. These services process information needed for those functions. Our contact address forwards to the project’s Gmail inbox.
Hosting and security services may process network addresses, browser details, and technical logs. The pledge rate limiter stores a keyed hash of a network address rather than the raw address. Its active window is one hour; expired entries are removed during later requests, so removal is not immediate when traffic stops.
Retention and your choices
Confirmation links expire after 24 hours. Expiration does not automatically delete the pending pledge. Submitted pledges and stories currently have no automatic deletion schedule.
You may request access, correction, withdrawal of publication permission, or deletion by emailing the project. We may need to confirm that a request concerns your information. Please identify your submission without sending additional sensitive family details. Deleting an active record does not instantly remove provider backups or security logs.
Using the resource finder
The finder does not request your precise location. Your state and county choices appear in the page address so you can save or copy a selection. Choosing a location does not submit a pledge or story. Opening a county-specific legal-aid search sends the chosen county and state to that independent directory.
Fundraising and other websites
Donations are handled on GoFundMe under its own terms and privacy notice. Merchandise card entry is handled by Stripe as described above. External research links also lead to independently operated websites.
Keeping this notice current
We will update this page when the project’s handling of information changes. Privacy requests and corrections can be sent to contact@fathersareparents.org.
